I had a uncle who treasure all its antique things and the most precious and his most personalized items are his grandfather clock. Even during his last breath he told his only son not to sell his grandfather clock and treasure it for him. I presumme everyone had a personalized shirts in their life time. I once had my personalized shirts when I was seventeen years of age. COLERAIN TOWNSHIP - Dueling T-shirts framed Tuesday night's debate over Mount Rumpke's expansion.

As township trustees began a series of public hearings on a zoning change request that would allow the Rumpke Sanitary Landfill to expand 868 acres, they looked into the crowd at the community's senior center and saw an evenly divided audience filling an estimated 400 seats and wearing T-shirts supporting their respective sides.

Proponents of expanding the landfill - known as Mount Rumpke because it is the highest point in Hamilton County - wore shirts colored the same Rumpke red that's on the landfill's garbage trucks and touting "The Top Five Reasons Why I Support Rumpke."

Opponents to the estimated $145.5 million expansion wore personalized shirts with green lettering declaring: "Enough! No New Landfill."

Comments during the 3½-hour meeting were polite and, occasionally, pointed. During the presentation of a market study commissioned by the landfill's owner, Rumpke Consolidated Cos. Inc., Trustees Vice President Bernie Fiedeldey noted that the Northwest school district would receive less money annually in taxes if the proposed expansion becomes a reality.

Larry Riddle, the landfill's manager, noted that the township will receive $29.1 million during the planned 30-year life of the expansion. "The township could ante up some of that money to the school district," Riddle said.

The market study, presented by consultant Eric Gardner, caused the biggest stir. The study offered reasons why the township's property values are declining. As Gardner read the reasons - crime, aging population, aging housing stock, no more land to build new houses, lots of blue-collar residents - but no mention of the landfill - backs straightened. Heads shook. Voices groaned.

"Those comments amounted to economic discrimination," said Nancy Lindemood, a member of Property Owners Want Equal Rights, the citizens group opposing the landfill's expansion. The group gave the trustees petitions with nearly 400 signatures against the expansion.

Even Jeff Rumpke, the landfill's regional vice president and a lifelong township resident, told the trustees he heard the reasons and "didn't take them too well."

The trustees felt the same way. Trustee Jeff Ritter said he felt he had "tire tracks on my back."

After Rumpke's presentation, 14 audience members spoke about the expansion. Eight were in favor, six opposed.

Corman said a vote on the expansion could come in November. "But first, we want everyone to have their say."

AIKEN, S.C. - Aiken County courthouse officials are adopting a dress code after growing tired of the public's attitude and casual appearance.

"We are trying to regulate the dress code for everybody," court bailiff Mert Holtzhouser said. "This is a court of law - not a peep show."

On the list of "don'ts" are tank tops, white T-shirts, shorts, skorts, miniskirts, baggy pants and bulky shirts. Aside from looking "sloppy," those last two items can even lead to security concerns, Holtzhouser said.

"You never know what someone has got hidden inside those pants or that personalized shirt," he said.

It's common practice for bailiffs to deny people access to the courtroom or ask them to leave if they are dressed inappropriately, and all jurors are sent a letter ahead of time stating what clothing they should not wear to court.

"They just don't understand that they can't come into court that way," Holtzhouser said. "They say, 'Well, you can't tell me what to wear.' That's true, but when they come into the courtroom they need to be dressed to our code."

Judges and other courthouse officials are fed up with that attitude, which Holtzhouser says indicates a lack of self-respect.

"When people dress like that, they are disrespecting themselves," he said. "It just doesn't look serious, and people aren't going to take them seriously."

ODESSA, Texas - Ector County Sheriff Mark Donaldson has more fur in his office than your average herd of wildebeests.

Sitting in a thick wooden king-chair covered with bronze stars and hairy cowhide, Donaldson reigns at the Ector County Detention Center. He folds his hands, leans forward and peers out over his set mustache.

"I like to think that I'm hard-nosed with criminals," Donaldson said. "The main thing I try to do is serve the public. To try to do things right and try to be as efficient as we can."

Donaldson keeps his pistol right-hand ready. The long-time West Texas lawman isn't afraid to take on bad guys and put them behind bars - and he's not afraid to color coordinate either.

He makes it a daily habit to match his gun grips with his shirt - can you say purple and canary yellow?

"People always say, 'How many guns do you have?' Donaldson said.

But the secret is in the grips.

Each day Donaldson covers one of his two 1970s-model Colt 1911 pistols with one of his 19 sets of gun grips. (At the time of the interview, he was waiting for an additional grip with an American flag and eagle design to arrive.) He screws one of the decorative grips onto a pistol handle before placing it in his black gun holster.

Donaldson chooses from a collection of grips made of wood or synthetic materials in colors like canary yellow, marbled blue, green, black, red, orange and brown.

"I'm not one of the white shirt people," he said. "I like bright colors."

Even John Wayne wore yellow gun grips, Donaldson reasoned. But the Duke fan draws the line on some shades.

"They make pink (gun grips), but I'm not going there," he said. "I have pink personalized shirts, but I just wear black with those."

If a John Wayne doll, commemorative rifle, replica belt, framed drawing and even Wayne toilet paper in Donaldson's office aren't enough, Robert Hollmann, an Odessa author and attorney, can vouch for Donaldson's dedication to the Duke.

"He dresses like John Wayne," Hollmann said. "He even tries to walk like him I think."

Hollmann has known Donaldson for about two decades. The men ride horses together and act in the annual Wild West Show at the Permian Basin Fair & Exposition.

"He always writes it to where he wins," Hollmann noted of the skits.

Donaldson preserves justice in real life, too. Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter has known Donaldson for 20 years. He said Donaldson is respected for upholding morals and representing Odessans well.

"In West Texas especially, it's a positive role," Painter said of the position of sheriff. "We get on a one-to-one basis with our citizens."

David Johnson, pastor of Central Baptist Church, has been a buddy of Donaldson's since the two were in junior high. Donaldson has always been tough, winning school weightlifting competitions and once pulling a lodged fishhook out of his thigh without flinching, Johnson said.

The black ostrich boot-wearing-sheriff also has charisma, he said.

"I'd call him the tough and tender, steel and velvet-type guy," Johnson said. "He's always been pretty stylish."

Donaldson's sense of style goes back to working at Pro-Am golf tournaments at the Odessa Country Club in the mid-'60s. As a boy, he remembers looking up to professional golfer Doug Sanders.

"Everything matched on him. He was real flamboyant," Donaldson said. "I guess being impressionable at that age and seeing how people reacted to him."

Donaldson isn't limiting his matching attire to gun grips. On a recent day, he wore yellow gun grips and a yellow shirt with - what else - a yellow ballpoint pin in the shirt pocket.

"That's kind of a new thing that I started," Donaldson admitted of the colored pen.

Chris Pipes, chief of the Odessa Police Department, has known Donaldson for more than 20 years and worked closely with him during the past four-and-a-half years.

Pipes recalled an incident in which several sheriff and police units were chasing a stolen vehicle on Loop 338. Donaldson sped in front of the pack and pulled beside the auto thief.

"The sheriff himself shot the tires of the car," Pipes said. "He's not afraid. He leads by being right in the middle of the action. The fact that he matches his pen and his gun grips and his shirt - I think that's indicative of a person who gives attention to detail."

BORO fans have been flocking to buy the Nuneaton football club's new shirt ready for Saturday's start to the season.

Club bosses are hoping the town's side can build on last year's bumper season for what should be the team's last season at their Manor Park home.

The new blue and white striped personalized shirt - sponsored by Stuart Plumbing and Heating Supplies - has been flying out of the club shop at the ground, ready for this weekend's home game against Workington.

Dave Riche, sales manager at the club, said: "Shirt sales have been really good, there's been a lot of demand for the blue and white stripes - the fans never wanted them to go.

"People do seem to like the shirt, it's a very lightweight shirt this year, the lightest spec of shirt, the same as they wear in Italy. It's very good quality and made by Sport Italia who do Derby and Middlesbrough."

Mr Riche said the new yellow and blue away kit was "a bit retro" and reminded him of the Crystal Palace shirts of the late 1970s.

The squad will wear the away kit for the first time when they take on Worcester City away on Monday.

Season ticket sales have also rocketed since the club's FA Cup campaign last year, in which the Conference North side held Premiership team Middlesbrough to a draw in the home-leg of their third round clash.

The team was eventually defeated by their Boro namesakes when they travelled to the Riverside Stadium a week later.

Mr Riche added: "When you can take 5,000 fans away with you on a Tuesday night you know your season tickets will go up.

"The turnout was almost 2,000 people by the time the season finished, hopefully the gate on Saturday, the first match of the season, will be considerable. I would like to try to push 2,000 if we can for the Workington game."

The club has had a promising pre-season, with the side losing just one of its matches - and Boro have also beaten big name local rivals, Coventry City.

Mahoning County Courthouse employee Phil Kidd said Youngstown is a great town, and he got tired of hearing cracks whenever he would tell how he moved there from the bigger city to the southeast. So, the 27-year-old Army veteran had an artist friend design the shirts, which feature the slogan surrounding a drawing of a muscular steel worker wielding a sledgehammer.

Six months ago, Kidd started by giving away 25 personalized shirts. Then, he sold more than 750 of them -- and the orders keep coming in. He said his idea has really "caught fire."

TRINCOMALEE, Sri Lanka (Reuters) - Fifteen local staff for the French aid group Action Contre La Faim found executed in eastern Sri Lanka after a fierce battle between the army and Tamil Tigers have been identified by their personalized T-shirts, a top aid official said on Monday.

Fourteen Tamils and a Muslim were found on Sunday in the ruined remains of their office after Tamil Tiger rebels pulled out of the eastern town of Mutur, site of the fiercest fighting since a 2002 truce halted two decades of civil war.

The aid workers were helping families battered by the 2004 tsunami. Most of them were found shot in the head.

"We had a team, which on hearing their staff had been attacked, visited their office in Mutur," said Jeevan Thiagarajah, Executive Director of aid group umbrella body the Consortium for Humanitarian Agencies (CHA).

"We found their office trashed and found 15 individuals, 11 male, four female, who were wearing their T-shirts, lying face down dead in their compound," he added. "Every one of them, unfortunately, is wearing their Action Contre La Faim T-shirts."

Action Contre La Faim said they had no further details.

"Today we will go out to collect the bodies and do our best to carry them back," one ACF staffer said by telephone.

The pro-rebel website www.tamilnet.com has already blamed the army for the killings. The military, which now has control of Mutur -- a ghost town after an estimated 20,000-30,000 residents fled shelling last week -- accuses the Tigers.

The bodies were found by the army when the Tigers had taken control of certain pockets in the town and when they pulled back it was reported by civilians that they had robbed banks and killed indiscriminately," said Major Upali Rakjapakse, senior coordinator at the national security media centre.

"It could have happened during that time."

Like most of the east coast, Mutur was hard hit by the tsunami, which killed 35,000 people around Sri Lanka. Tsunami damage is still very visible in the town and rebuilding has been slowed by recent conflict.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Coming this fall to an NFL stadium near you: fashion-forward referees.

Gone are the traditional vertical black-and-white stripes that have been a staple of the league seemingly since its inception and which live on in Foot Locker stores and DJ booths around the country.

In their place is a flashier look that features wide white stripes and thin black stripes that flare around the shoulders and upper arms.

In addition to giving their annual lecture on rules changes for the upcoming NFL season, several referees debuted the new threads this week at New York Giants training camp.

Not everyone was enamored of the new look.

"They should be riding on a horse at Saratoga," one spectator cracked Thursday while watching the officials oversee a practice session.

Making a fashion statement was not the primary motivation behind the decision to make the change, NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said. First was the desire for a lightweight, more efficient fabric that would be cooler in hot weather and warmer in cold weather.

"The material of our personalized shirts was very heavy, so everybody wanted a different material," said Walt Coleman, an NFL referee with 18 years' experience. "Everybody loves the material, and the shirts are really comfortable. I think everybody's just not totally sold on the style. My son said to me, 'I can't believe you're changing your shirts!'"

The second aim was to make the uniforms more easily accommodate the gear referees need to carry, Aiello said, which includes more layers of clothing in colder weather.

"The biggest reason we changed was to upgrade the performance quality of the uniform," he said. "The third reason was to give the uniforms a more modern, updated, distinctly NFL look."

Referees will wear the new Reebok-designed shirts and the traditional white knickers for most games, and will switch in cold weather to black full-length pants that will allow more room for additional layers.

Aiello wasn't sure when the league switched to the vertical stripes, but noted that NFL referees in the 1930s wore "solid white dress shirts with bow ties and beanies."

When asked his opinion of the new uniforms and whether he would have an easier time locating referees during games for a little spirited exchange of ideas, Giants coach Tom Coughlin replied, "Are you kidding? I'm just glad to have them out there. And I've usually been able to find them pretty well."

They`re handing out "I got caught wearing my lifejacket" T-shirts to kids on several Missouri waterways and the response is encouraging. Sergeant Eldon Wulf said, "Oh they get a kick out of it the adults want to put their lifejacket on real quick so they can get a personalized T-shirt too." Sergeant Wulf has heard every excuse in the book from parents not enforcing the law that requires any child under seven to wear a life jacket. Wulf said, "The main one is it`s too hot and the kid doesn`t want to have it on and they throw a fit." Sgt. Wulf says parents can avoid a battle by not allowing a child on the boat without it. He says you should make them put on life jackets at the dock or marina before the boat leaves the marina. Wulf warns that parents can`t depend on themselves to save the day because even parental supervision can`t prevent some drownings. Wulf said, "The most common fatality is a drowning in a small boat under 16 foot that `s easy to capsize. If you wind up in the water unexpectedly and the water`s cold or you bump your head there`s a good chance you`ll drown without a life jacket."

Catching kids following the law means some parents are getting the right message across. Seven-years-old Mackenzie Cyr "It`s safe for you and you`re supposed to wear it all times." Five-year-old Madison Cyr said, "Cause it`s safe and our mom tells us too."
Water patrolmen say if one child is saved from the T-shirt program their goal is met but they admit it`s fun handing out something besides a ticket. If a child is caught without a life jacket a ticket will cost the boat driver about 180 dollars but everyone we saw today had smooth sailing.

The National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) is to apologise to its sister union for textile workers after distributing cheap Chinese personalized T-shirts and bags to its members, the SABC reported on Sunday.

Numsa distributed the items at its regional conference in Cape Town at the weekend.

Delegates expressed dismay when they found that the items had not been made in South Africa.

The conference considered a call to return the goods, then accepted the organisers' proposal that they be distributed to members along with a promise not to repeat the mistake.

The organisers said they would write to the SA Clothing and Textile Workers' Union (Sactwu) to apologise.

The textile industry has been badly affected by cheap imports into the local market.

Reportedly, the ministries announced enterprises to be granted auto–visa facilitating exports of these goods to the market based on unutilized auto–visa fund of 2006.

The enterprises named in the list include ones that have already imported materials after May 25 and will export the goods categories by July 10, this year.

According to the Ministries, these enterprises have also been approved with exports quota allocation in Notification 0233/BTM-DM dated June 16, No. 0245/BTM-DM on June 22 and No. 0250/BTM-DM announced on June 9, this year.

Somewhere on the way to summer vacation - or perhaps at the last-chance taffy-and-trinkets emporium on the way back - cheap, holiday-destination T-shirts became a traveler's look-where-I've-been badge.

Some of the more memorable tees date back to those iron-on shirts of the '70s, particularly ones bearing the phrase "My Parents Went to (fill in tourist-trap beach or mountain-town name) and All I Got Was This Lousy T-Shirt."

Such shirts were (and maybe still are) to souvenirs what personalized, airbrushed visors and license plates are to the flea marketplace.

And yet visiting, say, Myrtle Beach just wouldn't be the same if you couldn't plunk down 10 bucks for a "Darn Seagulls!" T-shirt replete with fake blobs of gull poop.

Or a shirt advertising some coastal seafood haven that its wearer is pleased to promote as the place where, um, "I Got Crabs."

Or one with that ubiquitous sailboats-at-sunset scene that looks the same, be it bought in Tahiti or at Tybee.

Majestic peaks, jumbo cacti, palm trees, whales, surfboards, dolphins, flamingoes and blazing suns sporting smiley faces, sunglasses or both, they're all souvenir emblems from our roads most traveled. And nowhere are they more at home than when emblazoned on 100-percent cotton, 100-percent tacky T-shirts, in shops where mainstream America meets cheesy and gladly slips it on.

Some of the clever T-shirt slogans that over the years caught the eye of former Washington Post staffer Bob Levey - whose column featured an annual list of shirt sayings sent in by readers - include:

Of course there are vacation T-shirts that transcend tacky and find themselves elevated to the realm of fashion statement. The Hard Rock Cafe and Ron Jon Surf Shop shirts come to mind.

But they don't pack the camp of genuine souvenir tees, the ones that like bumper stickers on your back serve up their wit with a flair that says, "Not Only Am I Wearing This Lousy T-Shirt, But, Boy, It Kinda Makes Me Feel Like I'm Still on Vacation!"

A BUSINESSMAN has been fined for displaying shirts bearing a rude slogan about the Prime Minister.

Tony Wright (60), of East Farms, Hollow Lane, Burton Lazars, was caught selling shirts with the slogan B*****k* to Blair emblazoned on them at last week's Royal Norfolk Show.
Police told Mr Wright to remove the shirts from display and fined him £80 for causing harassment, alarm and distress.
But Mr Wright, director of clothing company Embassy GB Ltd, said he intends to appeal the fine and clear his name.
He said: "The police told me I was OK to sell the shirts but not to display them. I couldn't believe it when I got my ticket. It made me ill.
"The police said they had received one complaint out of 22,000 visitors. I don't see anything wrong with me expressing my opinion about Blair. It's freedom of speech. I'm going to take my case to magistrates' court. If I lose that I will take it to crown court and then to the European Court if I have to."
Mr Wright said he had been selling the shirts in different parts of the country for four years and had never received a complaint about them.
A Norfolk Police spokesman said officers issued two fixed £80 penalty notices at the Royal Norfolk Show on Thursday in relation to two trade stands displaying T-shirts emblazoned with offensive language.
She added: "The notices were issued under section five of the public order act as the language was deemed to cause harassment, distress or alarm at an event where a cross section of people were present including families and young children who may have found the displays offensive.
"Police did receive a complaint from a member of the public. The police officers in question explained the reasons for their actions to the two individuals concerned.
"Both men now have the right to either pay the penalty or challenge the action before magistrates."

ENGLISH residents in Scotland are fuming at a shop selling personalized T-shirts with the message "Grow Your Own Dope - Plant an Englishman"

They have made official complaints alleging racism and are threatening to involve the police.

However, the shop owners maintain their best-selling tops are "inoffensive".

Around 20 of the controversial shirts are being sold a week at the Key Centre in Dundee.

But English shoppers and politicians are angry.

Pauline Meldrum, who moved to Scotland from the Midlands 40 years ago, said: "I'd like all of the T-shirts withdrawn from sale immediately because they are racist and offensive.

"I've lived happily in Scotland and have endured a lot of anti-English jibes - some friendly and some not so well meant. But these T-shirts have gone too far. "

She added: "They also say it's OK to grow marijuana and that shouldn't be condoned.

"I'm considering reporting it to the Commission for Racial Equality or the police."

But shop assistant Tracey Leslie insisted: "It's not offensive, or racist, it's just a laugh. We get more comments about that T-shirt than any other on sale.

"It seems to really annoy some people, obviously mostly English, but others just love it."

But Jill Shimi, leader of Dundee City Council, said: "It's racist and shouldn't be tolerated.

"I condemn the anti-English sentiment - it doesn't reflect the views of Dundonians.

"I will be speaking to Trading Standards on this issue and it is not surprising that there has been complaints made already."

T-shirts are hot, as hot as Monday's weather, red, white and blue hot.

"We've been selling a lot of T-shirts and getting some really nice donations for the fireworks as well," Maureen Gilhooley, administrative assistant to the Board of Selectmen, said on a sweltering Monday afternoon.

The T-shirts, which just went on sale last Friday, are being sold to support the big fireworks display each July 3 that has come to be an annual town highlight. Fireworks are supported entirely by donations and fund-raising efforts, entirely outside the town's tax-supported budget.

And Monday was a great day.

"People have been coming in for beach stickers - standing in line for them, in fact - and they see the T-shirts and walk upstairs to buy some for the entire family," Gilhooley said. "And we very much appreciate the donations by check as well."

The idea for the shirts was submitted by Sheila Burke, Gilhooley said.

She said in addition to the T-Shirts the effort to raise funds for the fireworks also includes the all-important "Swampscott Day" golf tournament at Tedesco Country Club, which has been rescheduled for June 26 after an early-season rainout.

T-shirts will be available at the annual Strawberry Festival on July 2 and perhaps other places, including the golf tournament, said Gilhooley, an annual leader of the fireworks fund-raising effort.

Of course, people don't have to wait for a request to arrive in the mail. Donations, made payable to the "Fireworks Fund," may be sent in care of the Selectmen's Office, Town Hall, 22 Monument Ave., Swampscott, MA 01907. All amounts help. And the fireworks will be at dusk Monday, July 3.

Town Hall is open for personalized T-shirt sales during regular business hours.

Fourth of July parade taking shape, marchers needed

Details for the Fourth of July parade are shaping up, but there's lots of room for more, says Marianne Hartmann, one of the organizers, as well as police officer Jim Schultz, who is organizing both marchers and drivers.

The parade is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 2. Marchers of all kinds are needed and there will be a float contest as well. Schultz says he's looking for people with antique cars and trucks or people with unusual "classic" cars to drive in the parade, as well as groups who want to march.

Neighborhoods and various teams or groups are especially encouraged to enter the contest, Hartmann says.

There is also a theme of "Swampscott Honors Home Town Heroes" for the parade so local military men and women are being sought for the civic and patriotic event. Schultz, who doubles as the town's veterans agent, would like to hear from military folks who can add their presence to the parade.

Few things seem more important at a baby shower than duckies, monkeys and theme colors. Once you get the baby home though, the most important thing about baby clothes is how well they protect your baby.Depending on the time of year that your baby is born, and the type of climate you live in, there are a variety of concerns to take into consideration for your baby's very sensitive nature.

For summer babies, or babies in warm climates, overheating is not the only concern. A baby's skin is incredibly sensitive to light, especially with the increasingly less protective o-zone layer.

Sunscreen is not the only necessity for baby's sensitive skin. Keeping a towel or blanket over the baby's carriage or bassinet during summer play is a great way to keep the sun from harming your baby. Umbrellas and pop up tents are also great for beach days. Make sure there is plenty of ventilation but little to no sun—that way your baby won't get sunburned or have to squint at the bright sun rays.

For daily summer wear, onesies that are made of a lightweight cotton are a great alternative to pants and personallized shirts. In addition to being comfortable, they will easily fit in a small bag or purse that you can bring along in extra in case of a spill or accident. Another bonus of your baby being born in the summer is that it will keep shoe costs down, since a baby in a stroller in seventy five to eighty degree weather does not really need to wear shoes! Keeping a blanket in the stroller is important, especially if you're in air conditioned buildings a lot, since babies are a lot more sensitive to the change in air temperature.

For winter wear, bundling babies in layers is a good way to combat the difference between heated buildings and the outside. Avoiding long stretches of being outside in colder temperatures is probably a good idea, but for short walks or trips between cars and buildings, warm bundling is vital. If you live in a climate that has a lot of snow, the danger of sun burn is even more prevalent than in the summer, since it attacks from all angles. Warm socks, mittens, and hats will do a good deal to keep most of the baby's body heat in. Buntings that button down the front are a great way to let the baby escape from the heat a little bit when you are inside without too much effort for you or discomfort for the baby.

Layers work in almost every weather. As any New Englander will tell you, the ability to put on a layer or take it off is the key to combating shifting climates. This is particularly important for your baby, who is much more sensitive than you to slight changes in temperature or outside conditions. So keeping an extra sweater around, or putting an onesie underneath warmer clothing is a great way to prepare for anything that Mother Nature has in store. She likes to keep new mothers on their toes!

Once you have the classics, you can go anywhere. If you buy pieces that are well-made and in good fabrics, they'll wear better, feel better and, of course, look better on you. The fabrics to look for are lightweight wool gabardine, silk, cotton, linen, cashmere, and textured microfibers. Go that extra mile and make sure everything fits, especially the tailored pieces. Go to a tailor if something needs to be altered. It's worth the money. Now for those of you who are not the "classic" type, you can still do your own thing. Try a Chanel jacket with jeans or a leather bomber with a chiffon skirt.

The traditional gift for the first anniversary is paper. An addition of the newspaper from the year you were married, an old edition of a classic book like "Gone with the Wind", a postcard that's of a place meaningful to both of you, board games, plane tickets, football or baseball tickets, photo album filled with memories, write a love letter, drawing or pictures for your cabin, home or office or a gift voucher are all great ideas.

The second anniversary's traditional gift is cotton. New bed linen, attractive underwear or lingerie, cotton towels, a hammock, personalized T-shirt, cotton clothing or a cotton canvas shopping bag with your photo on the front.

Leather is the traditional gift for the third anniversary. Leather, boots, shoes, vest, skirt, pants, wallet, gloves, purse, belt, luggage or briefcase will do nicely. But how about something a bit more updated like leather cell phone case, leather framed photo or leather throw pillows?

Here's the story
A local 4-A school has set aside a budget of $400 for two volleyball team including JV and Varsity. This compared to $2000 for basketball and probably unlimited for football. There are 20-30 players and 4 coaches, not 50 players for each team and 12 coaches. The JV team has had to dress out in T-shirts and their own shorts as uniforms, all mismatching of course. The Volleyball coaches have to wear whatever, whereas the football coaches all 12 of them have personalized shirts, shorts, hats, etc.
These teams have traveled all over the state competing with other schools and have been defeated very few times yet they get zero recognition at their high school and have been forced out of the fall banquet for reasons not known. They get no trophy for MVP, MIP or ALLSTAR, not even so much as a certificate with their names on it, nothing.
Last year the coach was forced to pay out of his own pocket for a dinner at which the girls would at least be recognized, amounting to well over their alotted budget. Bus drivers aren't provided for the teams, here recently the coach has been responsible for finding drivers in his spare time so that the teams would not have to forfeit.
The varsity team has placed in the regionals the past 3 years including this year and has yet to be recognized for their feats. This team has several multiple sport athletes at which they all excel so its not like they don't deserve it, they just get over looked.
This school receives funding from some of the largest corporations and distributing companies in the state but can barely fork out enough money to pay for t-shirts, let alone REAL UNIFORMS.

So you tell me, is this fair? Would you want your child's sport to get left by the way side? Would you want your school represented this way?(playing in old t-shirts and mismatched uniforms)

The approach to the HiFi system can be viewed in several ways and the home HiFi system can be designed in several ways, with an infinity of components available.

My concern is for my system to be as simple as possible, with a completely neutral sound, transparent, without any colorations in order to respect the original form of the music I want to listen to, be it classical, jazz, vocal, rock, etc..

To achieve this, I have a standard CD player available in the market with a digital output connected to the SONOSAX SX-DA2 digital to analog converter, with the monitoring output of the converter connected straight to a pair of SONOSAX JM-3A active monitor speakers.

The result is a totally clear sound without any distortion (see the distortion curve of the SONOSAX JM-3A). With this quality of sound, a professional musician can feel the difference between a Steinway or a Bösendorfer piano for instance, and another piano.

The absence of gimmicks like an equalizer and effects is important to keep the habit of listening to a neutral sound, and to listen to music, not technic!

I can also use the SONOSAX JM-3A to choose and subjectively check some circuits like converters and amplifier stage.

And, an aspect not to be neglected : all of these need a minimum of space, and require only one level control!

In this exciting age of new megaliners equipped with amenities that boggle the mind, there is a sad, but unavoidable rite of passage: the demolition of the classic ships that can no longer compete in today's cruise marketplace. With rising fuel costs, the impending 2010 SOLAS (new international ship safety) regulations, and an unquenchable demand for scrap metal in developing nations, an armada of former ocean liners and cruise ships has recently departed, manned by skeleton crews and usually under a strange delivery name, to their doom.

In the Gujarat province on the northwestern shores of India's Gulf of Cambay, a devastated beach called Alang contains one of the world's most active shipbreaking yards. Alang has a huge tidal variation as well as a long, gently sloped embankment that makes it ideal for the job. In their final act, the ships are driven at full speed during high tide onto the shore.

After being stripped of all salvageable materials, large portions of the vessel are cut off and dropped onto the beach. These sections are dragged onshore and cut into hull-plate-sized strips (about six feet long by four feet wide) for recycling at nearby steel mills. An abundant and cheap work force comes from India's neighboring provinces to do the strenuous and often dangerous labor at a fraction of what it would cost in Western countries.

A main road ruins along Alang's waterfront. On the beach side, behind gates and a network of small buildings, the ships loom like broken monuments. On the inland side, a shantytown made from parts of demolished vessels serves as housing for the thousands of laborers. Despite the squalor, the workers seem grateful for the employment and the sense of purpose it gives them. The skill and ingenuity of these people is impressive. The shantytown lacks modern comforts, but the sanitary conditions and facilities have been steadily improving over the years.

Setting up the Axiom Audio Loudspeakers

System Set-Up
In setting up the Axiom speakers in my dedicated Home Theater room (19 x 25 x 9), I wanted to try several different configurations for evaluation. The 5.1 system setup included the Axiom M80ti front right and left placed 12 feet apart and about 18 inches away from the front wall.

The M80ti’s sound too directional with more than a slight amount of toe-in. I think this may be due to the use of dual tweeters. I suggest you keep the toe-in to a maximum of 3-5 degrees unless the speakers are spaced very far apart. The VP-150 center channel was placed horizontally on a 24-inch stand and aligned with the M80ti speakers. The two (yes, two) EP-600 subwoofers were placed on the front wall directly next to the M80ti speakers.

The QS-8s were installed on the side walls approximately 12 inches back from the null of the listening position and 18 inches above the seated ear level. This type of installation is typical for many living room home theaters.

For this evaluation I used the Yamaha RX-V2500 receiver in conjunction with the Aragon 2002 amplifier augmenting the front right and left M80ti speakers. All Axiom speakers are relatively efficient representing an easy load to drive but they all have a lower impedance value of 4- to 6-ohms.

This was the reason for the use of an external power amp. I set all speakers to Small and set the crossover to 80Hz for the M80ti front speakers, the VP-150 center speaker, and the QS-8 surround speakers. I then selected By-Pass on the EP-600 to prevent crossover cascading and selected the Flat boost setting.

I know many of you are thinking why set a front main speaker that has an effective cutoff of 35Hz to small 80Hz? There are many good reasons for this and these articles will help you understand why this is important:

Yip Tse, owner of Asian Food Market in Twin Falls, is an Asian American who has lived in the U.S. for 23 years and is pursuing the “American Dream.” His store specializes in Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Vietnamese and Laotian products, including Hello Kitty brand gifts, soft carpet blankets, rugs and a full line of packaged and fresh Asian foods.

Tse has been in the food business for more than 15 years and has been working alongside his parents who are very successful restaurant owners in Twin Falls. He worked as a cook, waiter and inventory control manager for their restaurants.

He then formulated a plan — with the assistance of Bryan Matsuoka, director of the Region 4 Small Business Development Center (SBDC) — to open a full line Asian market to service the Asian community in south-central Idaho. He received financing for his venture from Magic Valley Bank, allowing him to create two full-time positions. He opened the market in April 2002.

His wife, Sokry Heng, has much experience as a grocer and assists in the actual day-to-day operation of the business. Asian Food Market appeals to a very diversified market ranging from the Far East to Indo-European, with the goal of introducing new cultures and foods to the Magic Valley.

Asian Food Market now offers food products for six different cultures and has expanded inventory to deal with restaurant needs. Tse also recently added an Asian gift shop next door, which has a variety of Asian products coming from China, Japan and Korea.

The SBDC has provided ongoing business assistance in the form of consulting and preparing financials. Tse hopes to expand Asian Food Market within the next five years into a new building that will be suitable to carry more products. “We attribute our success to the help we’ve received and, more than anything, to our faithful customers who visit us regularly and invite their friends and family to our store,” Tse says.

Do you know that most of the people who have become
rich because of winning the lottery, lose all the money
they won and sometimes even became poorer after it?

It's not uncommon. I have neighbors who had previously
won as much as a 6-figure lottery prize. But after a
year, all of the money 'disappeared' and he was in
debt. He's currently doing odd jobs just to make a living.

I'm not making up this story. Do you know anyone who

If yes, that's nice.

You see, it's not the 'how' to make money that is
difficult. It's the consciousness of how to make it.

Many people have debated this with me. They'll ask me
to teach them the techniques of how to make money. I'm
sorry, it doesn't work that way. The techniques come
when you have the wealth consciousness.

Let me ask you a question ... have you traded stocks
before?

I do. You see, when your stock price is going up, you
don't know when the right time to sell is. Assuming

Logically, you should sell it because you have made
50% profit. But without any wealth consciousness, I
doubt you would do that because there are a lot of
emotion attached to money.

Winning lotteries won't help you to be rich. It's only
temporary because you do not know the mechanism of
creating wealth, using it and growing it. It's the
psychology or conscious of wealth that will make you
rich beyond your expectations.

Please take this seriously even if you think you
already knew about Wealth. I'm still learning to
master this everyday.
